Hi loves! It rained for the first time in a while this past weekend here in Vancouver and the temperature dipped quite low. It has gone back up since then and the fluctuation in temperature has got my body feeling a little confused! At least my wardrobe need not be confused, thanks to the pieces I can wear now, and later 😉
For this week’s Wear Now/Wear Later Wednesday post, I’m featuring a ruffled skirt. Flowy ruffled skirts are so flirty and feminine and nothing says summer like these guys do! But I mean, why stop at summer? I’m not ready to put them away quite yet, and I definitely won’t be for a while.
I’m especially in love with this Cetrin skirt from Club Monaco. If you didn’t know, I’m obsessed with all things polka dots, ruffles and bows! I guarantee you I’ll love pretty much anything that incorporates any of the three. Combine two of the three, I am sold! The ruffles that run asymmetrically make this skirt so stylish. The polka dots are not overpowering and the classic black and white mix makes this skirt perfect for pairing with bold colours or patterns like I did for both the Now and Later looks here.
For the “Now” look, I styled the skirt with just a simple white v-neck shirt. I opted for a skinny scarf rather than my usual necklaces to change things up. It added a bit of “prep” to the look and I actually quite liked it. The simple black and white combo made this look perfect for topping off with a bold, floral print trench. The outfit is cute on its own, still quite summer-ish and light but if you want to add a bit of colour to it (or transition it from AM to PM), I’d say go big or go home!

I paired my “Later” look with an oversized turtleneck knit and my fall/winter staple, over-the-knee boots. You all know I love mixing different textures, so this thick knit against the feminine silk was such a win for me. I loved how the ruffles of the skirt just peeked out from under the oversized knit. This sweater is the definition of cozy and the royal blue is so gorgeous. I softened it a bit with my grey boots but if you want a bolder pop of colour, style it with black boots.
