I love that big sleeves are so in style right now.  I especially love bell sleeves.  They are fun and chic whereas I find that puff sleeves can sometimes come across tacky.  They definitely take even a simple top to the next level.  I’m obsessed!

But seriously, can we take a moment to talk about how pretty this top is?  I may be a little biased since it was designed by yours truly! 😉

I sketched out this top while I was having some me-time at a café earlier this year.  Then a few months later, I was strolling through Nordstrom when I spotted a girl wearing a gorgeous hot pink number.  Obviously, I asked her where she got it from and she told me that she had sewn it herself.  Seeing how talented she was, I had to ask if she could bring my sketch to life.  Well, a couple weeks and lotttts of texts later, voila, I was wearing my very own design!

I couldn’t be happier about how it turned out.  It would have been quite pretty in lilac or baby pink too but I decided to go with black and white so that I can carry it into the fall.  Since it’s a crop, I went with a boat neck to balance it out.  I added the scalloped hem and open sleeves for that feminine touch.  But my favourite thing about this top is the contrasting bows and the bell sleeves  As I said, I loveeee bell sleeves and bows… well, I’ve always had a thing for bows!  The bows sit right at the point where the sleeves begin to bell out, so they accentuate the flare of the sleeves nicely, don’t you think?

I paired the top with gingham pants in the pictures (similar here).  Since the entire outfit was black and white, I thought it could use a pop of colour.  So I added my turquoise Rebecca Minkoff heels as an accent (similar here and here) which added a nice contrast and brought the whole outfit together.  But this crop would look amazing with high-waisted wide legs too, as shown in my sketch.

I’d love to hear what you guys think about my very own top!  Comment below, and as always, thanks for reading! 🙂 <3
